Mikka’s Story

I remember the first time the idea of Mikka’s Sweet Tooth popped into my head. I was just 14, with plenty of time on my hands when I wasn’t in school. I found myself daydreaming about the quaint candy shop we used to visit during our Christmas trips to Florida. The Candy Kitchen had this magical aura, with its colourful displays and the friendliest staff you could ever imagine. It left a definite mark on me. So, I thought, why not bring that same joy and warmth back home to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia? With a bit of research and some help from my family, Mikka’s Sweet Tooth was born. It started small, just a modest selection of candies displayed at the front of our house. But even in those early days, I poured my heart and soul into it.

The response from the community was overwhelming. People loved the idea of a local candy store, and they embraced it with open arms. It was heartwarming to see how something as simple as candy could bring so much happiness to people’s lives.

Before long, we realized we needed more space. That’s when we decided to set up a kiosk in the South Shore Centre. It was exciting to see our little candy venture grow. The kiosk quickly became flooded with candy and even the kiosk couldn’t contain our dreams!

We knew we needed to expand further, and so we did, to a storefront right into the centre court of the mall. It was a big step, but we were ready for it. With the support of our loyal customers and the dedication of my family, Mikka’s Sweet Tooth transformed into a full-fledged candy haven.

Looking back, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. From a simple idea born out of a childhood memory to a candy store right in the heart of Bridgewater. And through it all, the essence of that quaint candy shop in Florida lives on in every corner of Mikka’s Sweet Tooth.
